The Adventure by SEAL, Episode 14: The Baptism of Diving

Who is this experiment destined for?

Have you always wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater? If you want to try scuba diving, but are not quite ready to take the step to take a course, then baptism is for you.

You can participate in this program in the pool, from a beach or from a dive boat.

You can try your hand at diving near your home or on vacation at a dive destination.

Although this is not a course where you get a certification, it is a quick and easy introduction to what it’s like to explore the underwater world.

To register for a first dive, you must be at least 8 years old. No previous diving experience is necessary, but you must be in reasonable physical condition.

Are you ready to try?

What will I learn?

You will learn the basic safety rules and techniques necessary to dive under professional supervision. If you’re doing open water diving, you’ll practice a few extra drills in shallow water to prepare you for your adventure.

What you’ll discover

– Review the diving equipment you use to dive the ease with which you move underwater with your equipment.

– Find out what it feels like to breathe underwater.

– Learn the key techniques you will use during each scuba dive.

– Have fun swimming and exploring.

– How to become a certified diver by taking a course.

How do I get started now?

Ask for the participant booklet. It describes the experience and allows you to learn the safety rules and exercises you will practice with your dive instructor. You will also learn how to become part of the diving community after you complete your underwater discovery.

What diving equipment will I use?

Your instructor will probably provide you with all the basic diving equipment you will use, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, stabilizer vest, measuring instruments and a scuba tank.

Check with your dive center to learn more about the equipment you’ll need to start your adventure.

Breathing underwater for the first time is exhilarating, so don’t wait!
